About Eddie

Writer. Director.
Son of a clown.

Eddie Diamandi is a writer, director and filmmaker whose work spans film and television. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, he spent his early childhood touring and performing around the world with his father in The Great Moscow Circus.

His graduating film, Rigor Mortis, received the Best Director award at the VCA and went on to screen internationally, including at Palm Springs International ShortFest, New Orleans Film Festival and Melbourne Queer Film Festival.

In 2015, Eddie received an AMP Tomorrow Maker award, which funded the production of his short film Emily. The film was selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival’s Accelerator program. In 2019, he made the Screen Australia-funded short The Wake, which screened at festivals and received four nominations at St Kilda Film Festival, including the Craft Award. It later won Best International Film at the 2025 Essex International Film Festival.

Eddie was selected by Film Victoria for a two-month directing attachment on the AMC and Point Grey Pictures television series Preacher, working with director Iain B. Macdonald.

He wrote and directed episodes of Year Of, the Roadshow Rough Diamond and Stan series set in the world of the Australian drama Bump. He is currently developing a slate of long-form film and television projects, including Pierrot, a television series in development with Princess Pictures. His feature project Svetlana received Screen Australia development funding.

Alongside his screen work, Eddie teaches acting at Stage School Australia and facilitates film classes at Your DNA Creative Arts, an inclusive studio for people with disability. His teaching brings together storytelling, performance and practical filmmaking, creating space for people to explore their own creative voice.
